Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Significant disruptions to rail services are to be expected from 11th July to 30th July due to a track closure in the Fulda area, as announced in the last issue of our EGIM newsletter. This closure has been mandated by InfraGo.
We are working intensively with all parties involved to minimise the impact of the closure on you as much as possible.
To this end, we are utilising special train paths and implementing extensive reroutes, among other measures.
These measures require increased staffing, the expanded use of rolling stock and intensive operational management.
Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to reliably estimate which train services can be maintained under the given circumstances.
Despite careful planning, the full impact will only become apparent during operations.
Connections between German seaports and Munich, Nuremberg, Ulm, Kornwestheim and Augsburg will be directly affected.
The timing of this coincides with the closure of the right-bank Rhine track from 10th July to 11th September 2026 (the left-bank Rhine track is already closed from 2nd to 10th July 2026), which massively reduces the number of available diversion routes and their operational capacity.
Finally, the ongoing ‘Hamburg/Hanover Quality Initiative’ (1st May–15th July 2026) will result in significant increases in travel time due to partial track closures.
We anticipate significant negative impacts on our entire rail service.
We therefore ask for your understanding regarding our current inability to provide definitive information on the specific scope of the service.
However, as soon as we have reliable information, we will inform you immediately of any possible changes and their implications.
