Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
as a matter of routine, we would like to provide you with an overview of current and upcoming events within our rail operations. This includes information from the area of the network operator as well as information from the environment of the connected seaport terminals.
- Dispositive inflow control in Hamburg has remained in effect without change since March 10, 2026. Trains are sometimes denied entry into the Hamburg rail network.
- Dispositive inflow control in Bremerhaven has remained in effect without change since May 10, 2026. Trains are sometimes denied entry into the Bremerhaven rail network.
- Closure of the right-hand track on the Rhinepassing from July 10 to September 11, 2026
Other incidents in the last 24 hours:
- Overhead line damage between Hannover-KWA and Lehrte and between Hannover-KWA and Lehrte-West in both directions from July 30, 2026, at 4:14 p.m. until approximately July 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
- Overhead line damage between Uelzen and Bad Bevensen in both directions from July 30, 2026, at 3:43 p.m. until approximately July 30, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
- Overhead line damage between Maschen and Stelle in both directions from July 30, 2026, at 2:54 p.m. until approximately July 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
- Track fault between Hämelerwald and Lehrte from July 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. to July 30, 2026, at 9:00 p.m.
- Train stranded due to car damage between Lehrte-West and Waldheim from July 30, 2026, 6:00 p.m. to July 30, 2026, 10:00 p.m.
- These events, combined with the ongoing construction work—for example, on the Hannover–Nienburg–Hannover detour route—have brought all rail traffic in the Northern and Central regional areas to a standstill. In some cases, our trains were already denied departure from domestic and seaport terminals. Current forecasts indicate that freight service will resume sometime this afternoon. The regional areas are completely congested with parked trains and are therefore overloaded. Since virtually no trains have reached the seaports, there are shortened trains and complete cancellations. Once traffic toward the seaports resumes, delays are expected due to the discretionary traffic control measures. The current situation will continue to have a negative impact in the coming days.
- Added to this are the expired train conductor shifts, which further exacerbate the situation, in part due to mandated rest breaks and shift changes.
- Track alignment issue between Hildesheim and Himmelstür from July 31, 2026, at 8:34 a.m. until approximately July 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Result: extended travel time
We must expressly point out that any event occurring in addition to the known construction work will lead to significant delays.
The planned detour routes are completely overloaded and are now, for example, unavailable for large portions of traffic due to the Nidderau derailment (Main-Weser Railway).
During nighttime operations, rail traffic has now come to a complete standstill for a week.
There is a severe shortage of rolling stock—locomotives and cars—as well as train crews at every end!
Trains are arriving at their destination terminals with significant delays!
- At the domestic terminals, this generally means processing on the next day—a delay of 24 hours.
- At seaports, slots are not being met; special slots, let alone handling of excess volumes, are being rejected by the terminals.
This situation will inevitably lead to train cancellations, which will affect the entire network!
Due to the circumstances, delays continue to occur at the seaport and inland terminals. These delays have a significant impact on the stability and punctuality of our network. We are making daily efforts to minimize the impact on your bookings as much as possible. Our scheduling department will continue to inform you of any affected bookings on a case-by-case basis. In order to avoid incorrect tours, please check the availability of the loading units before acceptance inland or at the seaport and take our advice notes and order-related information into account.
- Long-term construction work between Nuremberg – Regensburg – Passau from February 6, 2026 to December 15, 2026. During this period, there will be two different diversions with adjusted train lengths:
- July 12 – September 16 -> 620 m via Landshut/Plattling -> 23 cars
- September 16 – timetable change -> 590 m via Salzburg -> 22 cars
- Due to the longer distance and increased utilization of the alternative routes, delays are to be expected. Further restrictions cannot yet be fully predicted. We will inform you separately about these. This mainly affects our services to Hungary.
For the area of seaport terminals, we would like to point out that your cooperation as a potential terminal customer is also urgently desired.
With regard to deadlines, please refer to our General Terms and Conditions. Delivery deadlines or fixed dates cannot be guaranteed. These presuppose unhindered transport conditions on rail and road.
