EGIM I Newsletter I Construction Project in North- and South Fulda I June 18, 2026

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

As previously announced in our newsletter “Current Situation in Rail Operations No. 24” on June 11, 2026, we have been notified at short notice, outside the previously agreed-upon timeframes, of a construction project in Fulda, one of the main rail corridors.

The construction project will be carried out in two phases. The so-called “Nordkopf” will be closed from June 26, 2026, through July 10, 2026. A detour will be available for traffic, but significant delays must be expected along the detour route as well.

In the second phase, the “Südkopf” will be closed from July 11, 2026, to July 30, 2026. There is currently no satisfying alternative for this section.

Of the approximately 200 trains affected, about 50% are expected to be canceled.

Furthermore, the approved trains are not compatible with one another. We have filed an objection regarding this, and the outcome is still uncertain. Nearly all routes are affected.

Due to the expected significant number of train cancellations, we will likely have to impose a temporary congestion surcharge to compensate for costs incurred from cancellations, rescheduling, and detours.

This information reflects the current status of our efforts. Through our rail carrier, we are in close communication with DBInfraGo and are working to mitigate some of the damage.

Please take into account possible additional costs for bookings made on or after July 11, 2026.

We expect to be able to provide you with further information regarding temporary additional costs at the beginning of next week, and we will, of course, keep you informed on all aspects of this matter.

Please take note of this.
