EGIM I Newsletter I Budapest Traffic – Nuremberg-Passau Bypass I April 30, 2026

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

As previously announced in our “Current Situation in Rail Operations” newsletters, extensive construction work has been underway on the Nuremberg–Regensburg–Passau route since the beginning of February 2026.

Consequently, we have been rerouting our trains to and from Budapest via Landshut/Plattling since then.

From June 12, 2026, through July 11, 2026, this detour will temporarily no longer be available due to construction work, so we will have to reroute our trains via Salzburg.

From July 12, 2026, through September 16, 2026, our trains are expected to be able to run via Landshut/Plattling again.

Starting September 17, 2026, through the 2026/2027 timetable change, we will once again have to switch to the route via Salzburg.

In addition to the extra time required, this detour also entails additional costs due to the longer route, as well as restrictions on train length.

For this reason, we will charge an additional fee of EUR 15.00 per TEU for the periods from June 12, 2026, through July 11, 2026, and from September 17, 2026, until the 2026/2027 schedule change.

Please note that these additional costs will be added to the transport rate and will not be listed separately on the invoice.

Our operations department will notify you of any deviating arrival times.

Please take the listed restrictions and additional costs into account in your transport processes and feel free to share this information with relevant team
