Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
as a matter of routine, we would like to provide you with an overview of current and upcoming events within our rail operations. This includes information from the area of the network operator as well as information from the environment of the connected seaport terminals.
- Loading delays at HHLA terminals: CTA more than 14 hours, Burchardkai more than 9 hours.
- Track separation at CTA. As a result, block trains cannot be assembled at the terminal. The maximum train length is 550 meters. This results in cargo losses and increased shunting costs, which directly translate into delayed departures and additional strain on the port infrastructure.
- In addition, only two cranes are currently in use for rail loading at the CTA.
- Early this morning, there was an accident involving personal injury at Burchardkai, which is why work has also been temporarily suspended here. We hope that this is not a serious incident.
- The discretionary access control system in Hamburg remains in force. Some trains are being denied access to the Hamburg infrastructure, which is leading to further train delays.
- The discretionary flow control in Bremerhaven was lifted at noon today.
- In recent days, the Bad Pyrmont line was affected by a track fault. Trains were only allowed to travel at reduced speed on the affected section. This led to congestion, which added to the delays mentioned above.
- Until yesterday, the Seelze–Hanover-Hainholz and Hanover-Vinnhorst–Hanover-Nordstadt lines were also affected by a track fault. Trains were only allowed to travel at reduced speeds on these sections as well.
- The above points also affect the availability of train drivers, as they are required to leave the locomotive at the end of their shift. Due to the significant fluctuations in dispatch times at the terminals, it also happens that train drivers are scheduled to depart, but the trains are not allowed to run at short notice. If a group of cars is not completed at very short notice, it is no longer possible to respond, even with the greatest possible flexibility. This has a direct impact on the availability of train drivers.
Due to the circumstances, delays continue to occur at the seaport and inland terminals. These delays have a significant impact on the stability and punctuality of our network. We are making daily efforts to minimize the impact on your bookings as much as possible. Our scheduling department will continue to inform you of any affected bookings on a case-by-case basis. In order to avoid incorrect tours, please check the availability of the loading units before acceptance inland or at the seaport and take our advice notes and order-related information into account.
For the area of seaport terminals, we would like to point out that your cooperation as a potential terminal customer is also urgently desired.
With regard to deadlines, please refer to our General Terms and Conditions. Delivery deadlines or fixed dates cannot be guaranteed. These presuppose unhindered transport conditions on rail and road.
