EGIM I Newsletter I Current Situation in Railtraffic I No. 18_2025

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

as a matter of routine, we would like to provide you with an overview of current and upcoming events within our rail operations. This includes information from the area of the network operator as well as information from the environment of the connected seaport terminals.

  • Subsequent delays due to the complete closure in Bremerhaven from October 2 to October 6, 2025
  • Dispositive inflow control in Bremerhaven since September 27, 2025 – particularly after the aforementioned closure, a very restrictive approach is currently being taken.
  • Several hours of switch closure on the RB Nord line near Alfeld (Leine), congestion due to track closure.
  • Official measures on the Hanover-Elze section, all trains stopped for approx. 1.5 hours.
  • Signal failure in Emmerthal since September 30, 2025, expected to last until the evening of October 8, 2025; area can only be passed at slow speed.
  • Switch failure in Seelze since this morning, expected to last until the morning of October 8, 2025; area can only be passed at slow speed.
  • Signal system malfunction in Bremen following software change since October 6, 2025, 3:00 a.m. until October 7, 2025, expected 6:00 p.m. Travel time extended by approx. 1 hour.
  • Unmanned signal box in Bruchköbel (near Frankfurt) October 7, 2025, 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.; traffic was diverted.
  • Signal malfunction in Melle, near Osnabrück October 6, 2025, 7:35 p.m. to October 7, 2025, 5:54 a.m.; the area could only be passed at slow speed.
  • Line closure in Bremen October 6, 2025, 10:05 p.m. to October 7, 2025, 2:46 a.m. due to a suspected accident involving a person. Trains were not allowed to run in the area and were stopped; a diversion was not possible.
  • These closures, detours, and areas that can only be passed slowly regularly lead to congestion on the railways due to trains being stopped or held back. As a result, trains often have to be stopped completely until they can pass through a slow speed zone.

Due to the circumstances, delays continue to occur at the seaport and inland terminals. These delays have a significant impact on the stability and punctuality of our network. We are making daily efforts to minimize the impact on your bookings as much as possible. Our scheduling department will continue to inform you of any affected bookings on a case-by-case basis. In order to avoid incorrect tours, please check the availability of the loading units before acceptance inland or at the seaport and take our advice notes and order-related information into account.

  • Planned maintenance work at HHLA Terminal CTA from October 8, 7:00 a.m. to October 9, 2025, 5:00 p.m. This will result in a track length restriction of 550 m.
The following closures are included in our public holiday schedule for German Unity Day:
  • Long-term construction work between Nuremberg, Regensburg, and Passau from February 6, 2025, to December 15, 2026. During this period, there will be various diversions with different effects. Trains can only run with 20 carriages on the diversion via Salzburg and with 18 carriages on the diversion via Plattling/Landshut. Delays are to be expected due to the longer distance and increased utilization of the alternative routes. Further restrictions cannot yet be fully predicted. We will inform you separately about these. This mainly affects our services to Hungary.

For the area of seaport terminals, we would like to point out that your cooperation as a potential terminal customer is also urgently desired.
