Current Developments in Rail Operations – July 2025 Update
As part of our regular updates, we would like to keep you informed about current events and disruptions in rail operations. These include both restrictions on rail infrastructure and developments at the associated seaport terminals.
Overview of Current Operational Disruptions:
Hamburg: Several hours of software issues at HPA are causing delays in shunting operations, which are expected to continue throughout the day.
Bremerhaven: Following a signal overrun by an external rail operator near Bremen-Burg, the line to and from Bremerhaven is currently closed. Trains with origin/destination Bremerhaven are presently being held back.
Hungary: Yesterday afternoon, a line closure between Tata and Tatabánya affected multiple freight trains, resulting in several hours of delay in our Hungary services.
Hamburg CTA: A software update at HHLA Terminal CTA is currently causing loading delays of approximately 2–3 hours.
These disruptions are affecting operations at both seaport and inland terminals and are having a noticeable impact on the stability and punctuality of our network. We are doing everything we can to minimise the impact on your bookings. Our dispatch team will continue to provide individual updates for any affected transports.
Important Planning Notes:
- Please check the availability of loading units before collection at seaport or inland terminals.
- To avoid unnecessary trips, please follow our pre-advice messages and shipment-specific instructions.
- Please note: Access to the western part of the Port of Hamburg (Waltershof) will be completely closed from 4 to 8 July 2025.
- We would also like to highlight that your active cooperation as a terminal customer – especially at seaport terminals – is essential for smooth operations.

Please note that fixed delivery dates can only be honoured if transport conditions on rail and road remain unobstructed.
