This includes information from the area of the network operator as well as information from the environment of the connected seaport terminals.

“Hamburg/Hanover Quality Initiative.” The detour routes remain heavily congested.

A failure in the railway-radio-system (GSM-R malfunction) brought train service to a halt throughout the entire country. The backup system for the railway radio also failed. From 10:31 p.m. on June 23, 2026, until 1:06 a.m. on June 24, 2026, no train service was possible. Afterward, service slowly resumed, as parked passenger trains were given priority; freight service was not allowed to resume until around 3:00 a.m. This resulted in massive delays and cancellations, partly due to a domino effect.

Vehicle fire at Lübberstedt Station from June 23, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. until June 23, 2026, at 11:30 p.m. As a result, travel times were extended due to a track closure, and the affected trains were held up.

Embankment fires between Bad Vilbel and Butzbach (on both sides); Nidderau and Friedberg, Hesse (on both sides); Friedberg, Hesse, and Beienheim (on both sides); Friedberg, Hesse, and Friedrichsdorf (on both sides) from June 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. until the morning of June 24, 2026. Consequence: longer travel times due to train stoppages.

Signal tower outages due to the embankment fires.

Embankment fire in Langwedel from June 23, 2026, at 4:05 p.m. until June 23, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. Consequence: longer travel times due to rerouting.

Passenger accident in Munich-Laim from June 23, 2026, at 3:40 p.m. until approximately March 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. As a result, travel times are extended due to traffic control by the DB-operations center. Trains bound for Munich were denied departure as early as Hamburg.

Locomotive damage involving a third-party rail carrier in Springe from June 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. until June 23, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. Result: Travel time delays due to trains being held up.

Loading delay at the HHLA Burchardkai Terminal of approximately 8 hours

Track length restriction at the EUROKOMBI Terminal set at 500 meters.

Loading delay at NTB Bremerhaven of approximately 4 hours.

Due to the aforementioned disruptions on the route, by 4:30 p.m. on June 23, 2026, virtually no trains were being allowed into the Northern Regional Area, causing rail traffic to come to a standstill. This was followed by the aforementioned radio communication failure, which rendered rail traffic impossible for hours.

Dispositive inflow control in Hamburg has remained in effect without change since March 10, 2026. Trains are sometimes denied access to the Hamburg rail network.

Dispositive inflow control in Bremerhaven has remained in effect without change since May 10, 2026. Trains are sometimes denied access to the Bremerhaven rail network.

Due to the circumstances, delays continue to occur at the seaport and inland terminals. These delays have a significant impact on the stability and punctuality of our network. We are making daily efforts to minimize the impact on your bookings as much as possible. Our scheduling department will continue to inform you of any affected bookings on a case-by-case basis. In order to avoid incorrect tours, please check the availability of the loading units before acceptance inland or at the seaport and take our advice notes and order-related information into account.

Last-minute update regarding another construction project that will significantly impact travel times. We were notified after the agreed-upon deadlines about a construction project in Fulda, one of the main routes we use. The construction project will take place in two phases. The so-called “Nordkopf” will be closed from June 26, 2026, to July 10, 2026. A detour is available for traffic, but significant delays are expected along the route.

During the second phase, the “Südkopf” section will be closed from July 11, 2026, to July 30, 2026. There is currently no satisfactory alternative; of the approximately 200 trains affected, about 50% are expected to be canceled. Furthermore, the approved trains do not align with each other. An appeal has been filed regarding this matter. The outcome is still uncertain. Nearly all services are affected.

We also informed you of this separately in our letter dated June 18, 2026. Further information regarding possible additional costs will follow as soon as possible.

Long-term construction work between Nuremberg – Regensburg – Passau from February 6, 2026 to December 15, 2026.
